How to meet C.J. and his rewards
C.J. is the fish expert in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. In this guide about C.J., we'll explain how to meet him and the rewards he can give you.
C.J. appears during fishing tournaments, or you can meet him once a week at random in your village. During his random visits to your village, when you chat with him, he'll offer to buy the fish you bring him for 150% of his usual value (which would be bought by the Nook's Cranny). * Please note, in order for C.J. to buy your fish for 150% of its usual value, you'll need to complete his "marine sport" challenge, which consists of catching 3 fish with characteristics corresponding to his request (being the right size, for example).
- What's more, it's possible to receive a fish model if you bring back 3 identical types of fish. However, only 1 model can be made at a time, and it will be sent to the player in the mailbox the following day.
As mentioned above, it's also possible to meet C.J. during fishing tournaments held twice a year, once in spring and once in winter. During the tournaments, you'll have 3 minutes to catch as many fish as possible. When you bring the fish back to C.J., you accumulate points, and if you catch more than 3 fish, you'll receive 2 bonus points.
Once the 3 minutes have elapsed, you can repeat the process to accumulate the maximum number of points. You can also sell the fish in your cooler.
At every 100-point milestone, you'll receive a trophy. Reach 300 points to receive the GOLD trophy. For every 10 points, you can obtain special items and accessories related to this event.
Additional notes
- When C.J. randomly visits your village once a week, he stays there all day (from 5am that day to 5am the next).
- Sometimes C.J. allows the player to catch any 5 types of fish, so the player doesn't have to respect the specific characteristics.
- When you catch the right type of fish requested by C.J. (during his "marine sport" challenge), it will be indicated in the message that appears when you catch the fish.
