In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, fruit isn't just for eating. In fact, they have multiple of functions that allows the player to accomplish different things. In this guide about fruits, we'll explain how to obtain them and what they can be used for.

Les fruits et leur pouvoir dans Animal Crossing

There are 6 varieties of fruit in Animal Crossing: New Horizons. There are peaches, apples, pears, cherries, oranges and coconuts. Each player starts with a fruit variety.
* Coconuts are not considered a common fruit, as they only appear on the beach.

It's also important to know that fruit trees only bear 3 fruits. When you pick up the fruit, the tree reproduces it every 3 days. To produce a fruit tree, players must bury the fruit of their choice. There's no need to water the tree, since it doesn't need water to grow.

Here's a list of things you can do with fruit

  • Sell them at Nook's Cranny (you'll receive 100 bells when you sell your common fruit, 250 bells when you sell a coconut and 500 bells when you sell a non-common fruit).
  • Fruit can also give the player greater power to destroy rocks and lift trees, for example. Simply eat the fruit to acquire this superhuman strength.

How to obtain all fruit varieties

  • Coconuts sometimes wash up on the beach. Be sure to check the beach every day.
  • Visiting a mysterious island may allow you to pick up a new variety of fruit (you also need to be lucky to stumble across an island with a variety of fruit you don't already have).
  • Trading fruit with other players by visiting their villages is one of the best ways to get a new variety of fruit.
  • You can receive a variety of fruit in the mail from your fictitious "mother".

Additional Tips

  • Make sure there's enough space around the trees. Remove tree branches, weeds, etc. So the fruit has room to fall. Otherwise the fruit will disappear before your very eyes!
  • As mentioned above, you don't need to water since trees don't need water to grow.
