In this Pokémon Go guide, we'll explain how referring friends works on Pokémon Go, as well as the various bonuses you can get with your referral codes.

Pokémon Go referral code

In Pokémon Go, referral codes are used to invite a friend to join the game, whether they're a new player or an old one. Referring a friend will enable both players to receive various bonuses and certain Pokémon encounters.

To be able to refer a friend, you must first ensure that your friend list and the invited player are not full. If this is the case, you will not be able to benefit from the referral or bonus programs. What's more, if you have a child's account, you won't be authorized to make referral invitations even if social authorizations are granted.

To receive a referral code, you must necessarily be a new player or have been inactive in the game for the last 90 days. In addition, the referral code must be used within 72 hours (3 days) of account creation or last login for former players.

How do I sponsor a friend in Pokémon Go?

  1. From the map, click on yourTrainer profile.
  2. Select the Friends tab at the top to see your list of friends.
  3. Click on Invite and then on Share referral code to send an invitation.

 

How do I add a referral code to Pokémon Go?

New player

  1. Download the game on iOS or Android.
  2. Select your date of birth.
  3. Create an account.
  4. Select Do you have a referral code?
  5. Follow the steps and use your code. 
     

Old player

  1. Download the game on iOS or Android.
  2. Log in to your account.
  3. From the map, click on your Trainer profile.
  4. Select Do you have a referral code?
  5. Follow the steps and use your code.

 

What are the referral bonuses?

Once you've used the referral code, you can earn rewards by progressing through the stages on friends' profiles.

Once the sponsored player reaches the items, you'll both get bonuses. You can follow your friend's progress on their trainer profile from your friends list.
