ZaciSa: Defense of the Crayon Dimension!
ZaciSa: Defense of the Crayon Dimension! is an independent game developed by ZeNfA Productions originally released on Wii U in North America in 2014.
Nine years and many improvements later, ZaciSa: Defense of the Crayon Dimension! is now available on Steam. Will this new version be better than the old one? We tell you all about it in this review.
ZaCiSa: Defense of the Crayon Dimensions! is a game with a distinctive design, but with standard gameplay for those accustomed to Tower Defense. Your aim is to select a predefined area on the screen and install weapons to repel waves of enemies. As you eliminate enemies, you'll earn money and bonuses that will enable you to buy more turrets and upgrade them.
Turret upgrades cost money, and if you run out, you can take out a loan. Loans allow you to borrow a certain amount of money according to your needs. In return, during future waves, part of your earnings will be transferred directly to the bank to repay the loan and interest. This system should therefore be taken with strategy, as it adds extra pressure to your development.
ZaCiSa has a distinctive pencil-themed art style. Although at first glance the game gives an impression of complexity, the concept art is, on the contrary, very accessible and relatively clear.
The game features a variety of music tracks with a very retrogaming theme. However, during a game, there is no variation in sound and intensity as you progress through the waves.
Getting to grips with ZaciSa is straightforward, but achieving a good score in the game is relatively difficult, even in easy mode. The game offers several difficulty levels (Cadet, Capitain and Galactic Hero) as well as an endless option. The number of panels is just right for this type of arcade game. Although there's no story mode, you'll need to complete score challenges in a certain difficulty level to unlock them. The game features 22 stages, each with its own particularities, forcing you to adopt different strategies.
