In this walkthrough for The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, we'll give you the complete tutorial for the main quest: Recovering the Hero's Sword.

Once you've talked to the Deku Tree, you'll discover that the Master Sword is constantly on the move. This is explained by the fact that it sits on the head of the white dragon. Indeed, the white dragon is constantly flying around the kingdom.

Before retrieving the sword from the dragon, it's important to ensure that you have 2 circles of full stamina. If you don't have 2 full circles of stamina, you won't be able to recover the sword.

In order to have 2 full circles of endurance, you need to complete Shrines in order to receive Light of Blessing and exchange it for endurance receptacles at Goddess statues.

If you want to receive stamina receptacles more quickly. There is a way. Simply go to the Emergency Shelter at the Lookout Standing and talk to the Forbidden Horned Statue you unlock in the secondary quest: A Deal with the Statue. With this statue, it is possible to exchange heart receptacles for stamina receptacles for the cost of 20 Rupees.

Once you have 2 full circles of stamina, open the map and locate the sword in the Great Sky Islands. Then use the Tower closest to the sword (dragon) to project yourself into the sky and land on the white dragon.

Once on the dragon, move towards its head, as this is where the sword will be. Step up and press A to hold the sword. Then hold A all the way down (this is when you'll need 2 full circles of stamina).

This action triggers a cinematic in which you remove the sword. You can now equip Link with this Master Sword. And so the main quest - Recovering the Hero's Sword comes to an end, making way for your next main quest in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom - Defeating Ganondorf.
